Riverview Elementary School students and staff share how the We Are Crew philosophy and structure enhances the school experience at Riverview Elementary School.

Crew is what we do in the mornings to build like teamwork crew helps us work with new people meet people crew is when we work together like this Foundation here at Riverview Elementary School crew means that all of us must work together and pitch in to make this ship sailed none of us can be a passenger that means staff students parents and Community to make sure that we can find success for our kids Riverview students start their day with crew and cruise and intentional time that we've dedicated to the day to build culture to create equity and inclusion in the classroom if it involves students working together it involves having conversations together getting to know each other better but also creating that support system in the classroom I think it's kind of nice because we know that we're all supporting each other and it's like a safe place once we step inside of our classroom crew is just the way that we create culture and build relay and chips with in the classroom really fun the kids look forward to it I know that there's something engaging and exciting this every morning reading reading initiative in debrief format which essentially helps guide our crew leaders and teachers through their crew lessons each day good morning Nina good morning Elliott reading portion of the grid that can be a passage quote and the reading help set the stage for the crew initiative and or lesson or theme for the day and the initiative is the portion where the crew leader help the crew take part in a problem-solving challenge I need a brief the crew comes back together to do a reflection piece around what they do confirm that problem solving initiative okay who really focuses on equity and inclusion of every student every student has a voice Jaden has a place in the classroom a place in the building a place in our community are for habit of compassion responsibility collaboration and perseverance are always part of crew the students are Wrecking I think that they really go hand-in-hand I think crew is very important I think it's teaches them that relationships are really built on kindness and Trust and it's it's built a trust in our classroom that I haven't I'm had in previous years Riverview is a place that I enjoy come to work every day and I know that students enjoy coming to school every day the culture in this building is nurturing and it's a wonderful place to develop young readers Young petitions and just young people in general and I feel incredibly confident in our staff and our building that these kids are going to be ready to go to middle school and Beyond I love Riverview because of the baby here it's a big school yet it feels very homey I feel like the kids are safe here they feel like they belong they feel like they're free to take risks and they won't be judged I love Riverview because of the parent I meant that we have most importantly our staff here they're such passionate hard workers and they believe in these kids and they believe that they can succeed there's not just individual crews, we're all crew
