Durango School District (DSD, formerly 9-R) has broken ground on the new Three Springs Elementary School campus, and the district's Workforce Housing Program has achieved nearly 80% occupancy. Funded by the 2024 Investing in Our Schools bond, these milestones highlight the ongoing updates to facilities and long-term planning across DSD.

This week, about 150 graduating seniors from Durango High School and Durango Big Picture High School returned to the elementary and middle schools where their journeys began for Walk Stars.

At the end of the 2026-27 school year, Dr. Karen Cheser spotlights remarkable student capstone achievements, celebrates resilience through recent district changes, and looks ahead to summer learning opportunities.

DSD launches summer programs to keep students engaged and families supported throughout the break, plus modified operating and communications schedules.

On May 11, Riverview Elementary School second grader Liberty Laprise and her classmates in Ms. Kassay’s class spent part of their morning gaining confidence on two wheels while learning essential safety skills from local coaches.
