Transitioning back to in-person learning has had its challenges, but ESPs have been there for our students every step of the way. They're cleaning and repairing buildings with old infrastructure, navigating multiple bus routes and preparing healthy meals amid staffing and supply shortages, addressing social-emotional impacts of the pandemic, and so much more.

Did you ever feel nervous going to the principal’s office? Some feelings never leave us and, as adults, parents can still be uncomfortable with it. Enter a Parent/Guardian School Liaison.

Durango School District 9-R has created a new program to give parents/guardians someone to discuss school matters with, without visiting the principal’s office.

We are ready to start sign-ups for FIRST LEGO League Robotics, grades K-12. We have a limited number of spaces, due to the number of volunteer parent coaches, so please encourage students to sign up here as soon as possible.

Durango School District 9-R uses the Colorado Academic Standards as a foundation of our guaranteed and viable curriculum. The Colorado Academic Standards are the outcomes we promise to every student.

Durango 9-R Is fortunate to have employees who have been serving the district for more than 20 years. This week we want to recognize Tara Haller, who teaches mathematics and computer science at DHS. Tara has been with 9-R for 27 years!

Josephine Valencia has worked in the cleaning industry all of her life. For the past eight years she’s been with the Durango School District 9-R. She’s been the Custodian at Animas Valley Elementary School for five years.

We continually monitor our student and system results to ensure that we are on track to realize this mission. At 9-R, we believe every student deserves to have a solid academic foundation that opens the window of opportunity for any career in which they are interested. They also deserve to have experiences that help them understand their talents, interests, and possible future career options.

The districts up for election are District A, District C, and District E. Districts A, C, and E will be elected for 4 year terms. Mail ballots will be sent the week of October 11.

Steve Lee has been driving buses and trucks for a long time. What initially drew him to drive a school bus for the Durango School District 9-R was the hours and benefits. The shifts are typically two hours in the morning and three in the afternoon, which also happens to be enough to earn full benefits, and give him time to run his business during the day.

During the month of September, our schools, students and staff have been steadfast in ensuring we maintain our mitigation measures, decreasing chances of outbreaks of COVID-19 in our schools, and increasing the chances of keeping schools open and safe.
