We are here for you, Riverview Eagles! First Full Week of Remote Learning

Dear Riverview Community,

Click here to link to that Survey.

And, here is some valuable information for you to know

  • We will maintain Wednesday to Tuesday Learning Plans
    • You can expect to receive these from your child’s homeroom teach every Wednesday
    • Should you be picking up materials at school, they will be out front in a plastic bin on Thursdays from 3-7pm and Fridays from 7-11am
  • Communication with your child’s teacher
    • Each teacher has set up at least one hour a day of ‘office hours’. This is set up as a dedicated time to monitor communication and provide rapid response to students needing help. This is not the only way to get help. Should you have questions or need help outside this window, please e-mail the teacher (or contact however the teacher has asked). Our teachers are regularly checking e-mail and responding to student learning needs as quickly as they can.
  • Printed Materials
    • We are working to use as little of this method as possible. However we are glad to produce printed material for families without any access, but we ask that if you have accessibility in your homes that you use your home availability. Minimizing folks needing to come to school as much as possibility is in the front of our minds.
    • Should you have electronic access to material and no printer it is ok to solve problems/answer questions/show thinking on a separate sheet of paper, white board, in a google doc, etc. Teachers are being mindful of this and working to provide learning opportunities that do not require printing.
  • Should your child need some emotional support, both Kristin Musgrave and Lesley Ogburn are available by phone or Zoom. Please reach out to them via e-mail and they will get back to you.
  • Please mark attendance. You should be receiving a link each day from IC for you to mark your child’s attendance. We have heard from parents that this aspect is a bit inconvenient. We are working on a better remote attendance system.

Some Resources To Be Aware Of:

  • Zoom Video Conferencing
    • If you use your child’s school e-mail (s.firstnamelastinitial@durangoschools.org) to set up a free account. With the school e-mail, the free account limits are lifted. This has been a great way to communicate with staff and friends.
      • Some e-mails have a second letter on the last name.
  • IReady has added a under the “Family Center” called “Supporting Your Child During Extended Closure”. Here they have printable packets and activities in math and literacy for all grades.
  • National Geographic Article
