Mid Year Reflection from the Principal

Dear Riverview Community,

We recently sent out mid-year Report Cards. Depending on grade level, you received a variety of information related to your child’s learning. We decided to send out a range of information in an effort to help parents have a wider view of their child’s learning at Riverview. To help us understand the value of the information we sent out, or to give us ideas, please take a moment to complete our
Parent Mid-Year Mini-Survey. The survey has questions related to the information we sent out, as well as questions about how we are doing in the areas of academics, student culture, and communication. If you would like to view previous parent survey results, please follow this link to our website (About Our School, then School Performance).

Last month, we hosted our first
‘Learning Walk’ during which I met with 7 parents to discuss and observe learning at Riverview. We were able to visit 2 classrooms and had a great conversation about learning. We have two more scheduled on Wednesday February 20th from 1 to 2 andWednesday March 13 from 1 to 2. I would love to provide more parents with the opportunity to observe learning in classrooms first hand followed by a conversation about what you observed. Space is limited, so please sign up with Mary Logan to ensure a spot.

Finally, a mid-year reflection from the Principal. Thus far, it has been a very good school year. Students are bringing positive attitudes to school everyday and attacking their learning. Staff members are working hard and collaborating at very high levels. And parents are engaged and supportive of the work occurring here. It is a team effort among students, staff, and parents. Thanks to all.

Doug
