11-10-20 Riverview News, District 9R Pivots to Remote Learning

We recognize how important it is for our students' present experiences and future to offer our best instruction no matter the location of our students and staff.  This year, we all have more experience with distance learning, clearer expectations of the type of instruction being delivered, and more tools and training than we did in the spring when we pivoted to remote learning. Your student’s teachers will continue the learning and instruction that your child would have received if we were able to continue in person. They will also be gathering information on your technology needs, and then we will follow up directly with those needing devices.

Daily instruction will be provided to your student through Google classroom or itsLearning. This will be detailed in your teacher’s communication.

While your student is learning at home, you will need to use the IC portal to report their attendance. For detailed information on submitting attendance from home visit https://www.durangoschools.org/apps/news/article/1286530. If you are needing assistance with reporting attendance online, please call the school and speak with Justin.

Lunches will be provided this week for families for pick up from 11:30-1pm. Please drive through the pick up lane. More information will be provided soon.

If you or your student are needing support from a school counselor, please reach out to Lesley Ogburn at [email protected]. We will continue to communicate appropriate information as it becomes available.

We appreciate your collaboration, perseverance, compassion, and flexibility during this quarantine. We would like you to know that our teachers and staff have been preparing for this pivot over the last month as part of our forward thinking around the pandemic. As a result we feel confident that your child will continue to get a quality and appropriate education. Please keep lines of communication open with your teacher and administration if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Lindsay Neiman, Principal
