P.E.

Welcome! My name is Johnny Bertrand aka Mr. B! I started teaching Physical Education at Riverview Elementary in 2012. Before that I taught at Miller Middle School and Fort Lewis Elementary. I also coach football as an assistant coach at Miller Middle School and at Durango High School as an assistant Track and Field coach. 

 

I moved to Durango from Ohio in 1999 to attend Fort Lewis College. My hobbies include snowboarding, softball, football and spending time with my wife and 3 daughters. 

 

My goal for my students this year is to expose them to a variety of different sports, physical activities and skills. My hope is that in these experiences your child will discover a physical activity that they enjoy. We are lucky to live in a town with so many opportunities to live an active lifestyle. Many of my students come to class having already participated in a variety of traditional sports as well as extreme sports. For these students I want them to learn the relationship between these activities and how becoming better at one sport will help you in others.
